THE region's development agency is to provide £300,000 from its skills development fund to create a new centre of excellence in gas safety training.
Advantage West Midlands awarded the grant to Evesham and Malvern Hills College to ensure an increase in the training and multi-skilling of new gas engineers.
"This centre of excellence will provide training and assessment services in approved codes of practice and the safe installation and maintenance of gas-powered equipment," said Dawn Nichols from the learning and skills team at AWM.
Ms Nichols said the team aimed to support programmes that promoted lifelong learning and developed a skilled regional workforce through the skills development fund.
