SUCKLEY'S Steve Gray duly clinched the 2001 British Club 100 Rookie Kart Championship with a conservative drive to 12th place on Sunday at Buckmore Park in Kent.
His nearest rival, 19-year-old Dan Polley from Dublin, put in an inspired drive in the appalling conditions to finish sixth but could not prevent the 48-year-old Brooklyn Ford sales manager from becoming the oldest driver in the history of the championship to take the crown.
