LANGLAND Sports increased their lead at the top of the Worcester Sunday Division Two and extended their unbeaten run to ten games.

LAKE SPORTS 3, LANGLAND SPORTS 4

Langland opened the scoring when Rob Perrins chipped the home keeper after a long kick from keeper Mark Newman and with Sam Dakin and Pete Brannelly to the fore, Ed Palmer made it two with a clean finish from 16 yards out.

The home side hit back and an unfortunate own goal by Chris Postans made it 2-1, but just before half-time Dave Beats burst clear onto a superb through ball by Brannelly to hammer home off the underside of the bar for 3-1.

Ten-man Lakes shocked Langland with an early goal making it 2-3 but the visitors hit back four minutes later with Ed Palmer's second of the game to restore their two-goal lead.

Langland then struggled to maintain their play for the remainder of the match and when Lakes' centre back scored from a set play for 3-4 it set up a tense final ten minutes.

With several players missing credit must be given to Langland players who turned up and played out of position, including man of the match David Beats at right back, who scored the goal of the game.

On Sunday, Langland have a local Derby against Malvern Radar, players meet at 9.50am at Dukes Meadow. Any problems contact Andrew on 07968432996.
