WORCESTER City's talented midfielder Darren Middleton may face surgery on his knee if a scan reveals a tear in his cartilage.
The 22-year-old is hoping to have the injured knee scanned in the next 48 hours, but admits the delay in returning to fitness has been frustrating.
"I'm a quick healer and thought it would be OK, but it is looking like it might be more serious than I first thought," he said.
"It's frustrating missing so many important games but at least once they've sort this out we'll know what it is," said the former Kidderminster trialist.
"If it is more serious than the sprain first diagnosed it might require surgery although sometimes slight tears can heal on their own.
"But until I get a scan and diagnosis I can't resume full time training."
