TOMORROW (Saturday) there will be a quiz evening in Powick Parish Hall starting at 7.30pm. Organised by 7th Worcester Scout and Cub group (who meet in Powick Hall) tickets are on sale at £5 each with a maximum of six members in a team. There will be a fish and chip supper; a bar and raffle. Tickets are available from Suzanne Hutchings on (01905) 831077 or members of 7th Worcester Cubs or Scouts committee.

On Sunday, Powick Pre-School is holding a Christmas fayre in Powick Parish Hall from 2-4pm. There will be toys, games, clothes, stalls, raffle, tombola, refreshments etc. Any donations please ring Helen (01905) 830103.

The coffee morning held at the home of Mrs Marian Lewis last week raised £212 for the Children's Society. Among the raffle prices were bottles of wine (won by Madeline Smith, Julia Davis, David Allen, Meg Allsopp, Hazel Peters); chocolates; a basket of fruit (won by Pam Hill); flower arrangement (won by Celia Pritchard).

Powick Ramblers ventured out onto Kempsey Common for their ramble last Saturday in bright sunshine with autumn colours at their best. From the common, there were views towards Worcester City and the tall flats of St John's. Across the Severn were viewed the Old Hills of Callow End and the Malvern Hills. The 16 people, two children and three dogs walked the footpaths past hedges, woods, and numerous farms, and over a number of stiles to Stonehall Common. Refreshment was taken at the Fruiterer's Arms and the Huntsman, Green Street, the walk approximately six and a half miles, was led by Pat and Bill Ash.

A coffee morning in aid of the NSPCC is being held at 17 Bramley Close, Colletts Green on Friday, December 7 from 10am till 1pm. There will cards, crafts and bring and buy stall. Further details from Chris Hipwell on (01905) 830810.

Powick Women's Guild welcomed Digby Wood to the October meeting. Digby is an expert on butterflies and shared his slides with the members. For the November meeting guild member Iris Gregory talked about her hobby of embroidery, she brought with her samples of her work, and embroidered pictures, which were framed. The Christmas meeting will be held at the Community Room, Powick Parish Hall, on Tuesday, December 12 at 2.30pm. There will be a bring and share tea and carol singing.
