A BURST water main, which has plagued a Worcestershire village, has finally being corrected by Severn Trent Water.

Main Road, in Peopleton, near Pershore, has had an extra "stream" for nearly 10 days after the pipe underneath the pathway burst.

A resident, who asked not to be named, said the pool was around 4ft deep and ran alongside the road before finally reaching a drain.

The "Peopleton Pond" as it had become known, had become something of a local joke with villagers taking to throwing coins over their shoulders in the tradition of the Trevi fountain in Rome (in the film Three Coins in the Fountain).

Although the road was not blocked by the leak, the village was pleased to finally have their footpath back after workers corrected the problem yesterday.
