IT is just two weeks until Evesham's late shopping night, when visitors to the town will get in the festive mood with Christmassy entertainment.

Lucky shoppers will also have the chance to win a share of £100 on offer from the Journal, in a window-shopping competition.

The late night shopping event takes place on December 13 from 4-9pm.

Musicians and puppeteers will be on hand to create a festive mood, while a farmers' market and Christmas carols will add a seasonal flavour.

To be in with a chance of winning some of the Journal money, shoppers in the town on that day will need to look out for special snowballs displaying Journal logos. There will be five in all, in shop windows throughout the town.

Entrants should list the names of the shops with the Journal snowballs, and add their own names, addresses and contact phone numbers. The entries have to be taken to Evesham Town Hall and placed in a special box marked for entries, by 8pm on December 13.

The first winner drawn out at random will earn the top prize of £50, while the two runners-up will get £25 each.

The Journal is also supporting a competition for children to design Christmas hats and lanterns, which will be judged during the late shopping night.

Any child entering will have to make their own lanterns and hats and take them along to the town hall by 5pm on December 13. Before that, they should submit their names, addresses and phone numbers to the Journal at: Lanterns and Hats Competition, Evesham Journal, Briar Close Business Park, Briar Close, Evesham WR11 4JT.

Age categories are 3-5; 6-9; 10-13 and 14-16. Entrants can take part in both competitions. There are prizes of £25 for each category winner, donated by the West Cornwall Pasty Company, Market Place.

There will be a parade of entries and prizegiving will be at 7pm.
