LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY: The most recent meeting of the Local History Society featured a return visit by Philip Coventry of Redditch Pictorial History Society with a further selection of slides of Old Redditch. The evening was one of pure nostalgia for the small market town which Redditch once was, not so very long ago. Philip Coventry was able to embellish the large array of photographs with his usual wry humour laced with boyhood memories of the highly individual people and shop-keepers. The meeting lasted longer than expected and could have continued with the aid of Philip Coventry's inexhaustible supply of slide reels! The next meeting on December 12 will be a special Christmas meeting with a local history and Christmas quiz. All are welcome to take part in both the quiz and the festive fair hopefully to be provided by members. There will be a cash prize for the wining team and also a raffle. Meetings are held at the Greig Hall commencing at 8pm, when all are welcome.
