WYRE Forest patients are to benefit from a £9 million Government handout to hospitals in the West Midlands aimed at cutting waiting times and "bed blocking."
Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust will get £70,000 for the current financial year to April 2002, and £140,000 the following year.
A trust spokeswoman said: "We are pleased to receive more money towards accident and emergency services and we will look at how to utilise it to best effect."
The Department of Health hopes the money will help modernise A and E departments, and bring down waiting times for patients in casualty.
It is also hoped it will assist in increasing the number of operations carried out and free up more beds.
