BILLY Blood Drop hopes his efforts will not be "in vein" after dropping into the Severn Valley Railway to launch a blood-giving campaign.
The National Blood Service's mascot was in town to launch the Christmas message: "It doesn't matter how you get there, just get there", which encourages people to give blood at a time of year when stocks are traditionally low.
Meanwhile volunteers are being urged to give blood in Stourport next Tuesday. Billy Blood Drop pays a visit to Bewdley's Severn Valley Railway Station.
The session is being organised by the National Blood Service and will be held at the Civic Centre, New Street, between 1pm and 7.15pm.
Volunteers - who should be between 17 and 60 and in good health - are invited to provide blood needed to meet high demand from hospitals.
Anyone who cannot attend these sessions but would like to enrol should phone 0845 7 711 711 or visiting the website at www.blood.co.uk.
