STOURPORT Swifts' striker Tim Langford has beaten a number of candidates to land the job as club man ager until the end of the season.
Chairman Chris Reynolds decided to plump for the veteran forward in a bid to keep his squad together.
There had been widespread interest in the post from several experienced managers but Reynolds said he felt Langford was the right man for the job.
"One of the main reasons for appointing him was as an internal motivation for the players because we didn't want to disturb the squad too much," said Reynolds.
"We discussed it at great length and decided Tim was the right man. He's got all the right credentials to do the job as was shown against Halesowen Town when we were unlucky not to beat them despite an injury depleted squad."
Langford is expected to play only when necessary.
