WORCESTER City have made a substantially improved offer for Bedworth United duo Adam Webster and James Richardson.

The Dr Martens Western Division club have already rejected a written offer by the St George's Lane club with Bedworth chairman Pete Randle describing the bid as an insult on the club's website.

"The offer really was an insult to both players and the club itself and the club doesn't want to lose players of their ability because we want to go forward," he said.

But City yesterday made another bid to try and capture promising striker Webster and centre-half Richardson.

"It is fair to say that we have made an offer for two players which has been turned down by the club in question," said club director Dave Boddy. "But before Bedworth chose to go to press chairman Dr Mike Sorensen had already made a substantially improved offer for the pair."

Negotiations are also on going with a third Barton transfer target who has agreed personal terms.

"The two chairmen have spoken but at the moment there is a difference in valuation between us and them and the matter is on going," added Boddy.

"It is a very frustrating time for John Barton and the club. He has obviously targeted his players but we are completely in the hands of the selling clubs."

Bromyard Town lost 2-1 at Ledbury Town in the West Midlands League Premier Division last night.
