HAVING watched BBC Newsnight's damning report on the Edmonton incinerator, where 50,000 tons of contaminated ash has been dumped in Dagenham, imagine the irony when the following day I read Jeff Romanis's comments reported in the Shuttle/Times & News.
Why is Mr Romanis blaming public opposition to incineration, when it is he who has failed to implement a recycling policy?
Perhaps he should get out more often and realise that other counties achieve Government target levels for recycling without the need for incineration.
The county council needs to wake up and stop blaming the electorate for its failure to develop a contingency plan.
Planning permission was refused in April - so Jeff, what have you been doing for the last seven months?
