THE Stour Singers, under the expert guidance of their musical director Richard Emms, will be getting in the Christmas spirit this week.

The Singers will be holding a concert at St Edmund's Church in Shipston at 7.30pm on Saturday.

The main piece, Confitibor tibi Domini (I will give thanks to the Lord) is by French composer Michael-Richard Lalande, a contemporary of Purcell.

Lalande's main claim to fame is that he had more than 600 performances of his works staged at the glittering Palace of Versailles.

The second part of the concert will be devoted to a selection of festive carols, and throughout the choir and professional soloists will be accompanied by a sextet of musicians.

Tickets for the special Christmas concert cost £6 for adults and £3 for children and students.

They are available from members of the choir and from Clarke's Electrical in Shipston.
