TALKS will take place this week to explore the possibility of setting up another transport organisation in light of Redditch Community Transport's closure on Friday, writes Melina Cannon.

Robert Rainbow, chairman of RCT's parent charity, Redditch Council for Voluntary Service, announced a meeting would be held between himself, RCT operations manager Ron Hale and a number of local businesspeople.

The Redditch Advertiser reported last week businesses, including Prudden Road Surfacing Ltd, Birchfield Road, The Litten Tree pub, Market Place, and Redditch Roadstone, Arthur Street, Lakeside, were keen to form a consortium to save the troubled charity.

A statement issued by RCVS said the purpose of the meeting was to explore ways that transport in the community could continue to be provided under the auspices of a new organisation.
