BROMSGROVE Cricket Club were given an early Christmas present when Worcestershire decided they would be extending their offer of contracted and academy players to clubs in the First Division of the Birmingham and District League.
Only Premier Division teams - including local rivals Barnt Green - had previously benefited. The decision has been welcomed by Bromsgrove, especially in light of their recent struggles against relegation.
A spokesman said: "It's a great boost for us. We always hoped the County would offer us a player and it couldn't have come at a better time.
"We don't know who we'll get or what their availability will be, but their presence at a few games should lift those around them."
Things are looking up for the Boars. Two new players could be joining soon and all-rounder Nick Davies should be in good form in the summer - he's sharpening his skills this winter playing league cricket in Australia.
