ALVECHURCH manager Andy Hibbert is hunting for a striker to complement his 28 goal forward line.

Keith Rostill, a capture from Lye Meadow tenants Kings Heath, has bagged 16 despite Church's sluggish start to the season and former Paget Rangers forward Gary Hay has hit a dozen.

But Hibbert, who is still rebuilding the side after a close season exodus fears an injury or suspension to either could leave him light up front.

And his fears could be realised after Hay was sent off in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Kingsmen after a dust-up with sweeper Colin Campbell.

Former Mile Oak Rovers regular Peter Wood was the hero at the weekend with a brace which lifted the Lye Meadow landlords away from the relegation zone.

And Hibbert says a top half finish and good runs in the Smedley Crooke and Worcestershire Senior Cups would crown a good first season.

Former Burmans midfielder Lloyd Dawkins was set to return to training this week after a month out with a knee injury.

But right winger Oli Jones, unearthed from Sunday football, is sidelined until the new year with a similar problem and former Stourport Swifts sweeper/wing back Ross Knight faces another three weeks out after a torn thigh muscle.

Alvechurch can move into the top half with a win against visiting Handsworth Continental Star on Saturday (ko 2.45pm).

The Kingsmen can go seventh with a win at Massey Ferguson on Saturday (ko 2.45pm) and keep alive manager Sean Lawless' target of a top six finish.

But the Heath boss said he was disappointed to lose the derby.

The nomadic side picked up a point in a 2-2 draw with Coventry Marconi last week and can swap places with Massey at the weekend.

Midfielder Dave Crumpton (bruised cheek) and Mick Burton (work commitments) are expected to be available.

And fellow midfielders Pete Bennett and Carl Smith are expected to recover from hamstring injuries.
