BROMSGROVE Colts 18 Hinckley Colts 3. Town maintained their unbeaten home record with the return of influential fly half Ben Copson.

The Bromsgrove front row of Blackburn, Evans and Kelleher had huge games and ensured a healthy supply of unexpected ball for scrum half Adam Vygus.

The back line had been re-arranged before kick off because James Waddy had been called up for cup duty with the Firsts.

The Colts took this in their stride with purposeful running by Frank Hale and Lee Ward in the centre.

Byron Hobbs timed a run to perfection and gave Matt Lewis a one-on-one against his opposite winger. Lewis swatted him to the floor and raced in for the try. Copson converted and made it 10-3 with a penalty.

Steve Blackburn emerged from a scrum with his left eye damaged by a punch and Vygus had to leave the pitch after a blow to the back of his head.

This injury saw the introduction of Carl Bradley to the unusual position of centre and he took the game to the opposition with a couple of storming runs.

Hinckley vented their frustration with five minutes to go and the ensuing mass brawl marred an outstanding game of rugby.

When order was restored, Matt Lewis scored a glorious final try.
