PARTY people in Bromsgrove can look forward to special celebrations to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee next year.

The Queen's Jubilee Baton Relay is to pass through Bromsgrove on July 18 2002 and townspeople are being urged to get involved.

The event, a 50-day tour of the British Isles, has been organised to celebrate the Queen's 50-year reign and the Commonwealth Games being held in Manchester.

The relay route takes in 500 towns, covers more than 5,000 miles and is being arranged by Midlands' chocolate company Cadbury.

Chairman of the Manchester Commonwealth Games 2002 Charles Allen said: "The Relay will unite these two great occasions in a massive street party lasting for 50 days, stretching 5,000 miles and involving 50 million people celebrating the diversity of the UK and the British Isles."

"The relay brings people together by helping to celebrate our everyday heroes who can still be nominated as Jubilee Runners by filling in an application form at www.commonwealthgames.com or calling 0870 609 2002."
