MEMBERS of the Alexandra Hospital's League of Friends have proved they are a cut above the rest with their new appeal to raise £20,000 for a scalpel!
The state-of-the-art Harmonious Scalpel will be used in surgery to reduce scarring and healing time.
But for the first time in more than 10 years, the league will not be holding a Christmas fair at the hospital to raise funds.
Due to its ever-increasing popularity, there is no adequate room to hold it but members have opted to hold a two-week bumper raffle instead.
Mrs Hadley said bosses at the hospital had tried to accommodate the fair but it was decided by the league it should be cancelled.
