A DISTINGUISHED line-up of actors led by Virginia McKenna star in a heart-warming and witty show at the Palace Theatre on Sunday, writes Melina Cannon.

The Gift of Christmas shares the tears, laughter, miracles and disasters of the festive season through the words of Alan Ayckbourn, Oscar Wilde, John Betjeman, Noel Coward and Charles Dickens - not forgetting Father Christmas himself.

Virginia McKenna (pictured left), star of the film Born Free, is joined by Robert Dawes, of television's Outside Edge, Office Gossip and Roger, Roger and Derek Waring, of Z Cars and Emmerdale fame.

The cast is completed by Derek's son Nick Waring, from the popular Harry Enfield Show, and daughter Amanda Waring, who starred in the West End Musical Gigi.

And flautist Clive Conway and pianist Christine Croshaw are set to provide musical accompaniment to the show, which apparently ranges from traditional carols to the unexpected!

The Gift of Christmas starts at 7pm and tickets cost £11, £10 (disc rate) or £9.50 (with Reddicard) from the box office on 65203 or Tourist Information Centre, Alcester Street.
