STOURPORT Swifts are expected to announced a new manager later today with speculation that former player-coach Gary Hackett could be poised to take over.

Bob Green, manager of Bloxwich United, who yesterday pulled out of the Dr Martens Western Division, has also been linked with the post, having previously managed Bromsgrove Rovers.

Both Green and Hackett were at Walshes Meadow last night to see Swifts lose 3-2 to Halesowen Town in the Dr Martens Western Division.

Veteran striker Tim Langford was in charge for last night's game but one of the favourites to take over, Brendan Hackett, has rejoined former Swifts boss Rod Brown at Redditch United.

Chairman Chris Reynolds revealed he had been swamped with enquiries for the job.

Worcester City are still locked in talks with two clubs in a bid to bring three new players to St George's Lane including a centre half and a striker.

Director Dave Boddy confirmed negotiations were on going but said he remained optimistic that manager John Barton would have at least one new addition to his squad in time for Saturday's trip to Crawley Town.

Barton met one of the transfer targets after the Merthyr match on Monday and agreed personal terms with the player.

"Negotiations are on going and there is nothing to report at the moment but we are still hopeful that something might happen on all three fronts before the weekend," said Boddy.
