Alcester 4's 10 Burntwood 4's 15

Both teams were grateful the game was able to go ahead at all thanks to a generous gesture by Alcester member Nick Thomp-son, who stepped in at the last minute to referee.

Alcester gave away a converted try after ten minutes.

Stung into action, the hosts began to play to their potential and played much of the first half with attacking flair.

All Alcester had to show for it was a penalty from Chico Hack.

At half time the Kings Coughton outfit were forced to reorganise after prop, David Attwood, had to leave the field with a neck injury, replaced by Mick Weaver.

In the second half both teams fought hard to gain the upper hand.

After sustained pressure, Burntwood scored a penalty 30m out. A cruel bounce behind the Alcester try line, after a speculative kick ahead, led to a fortunate try for the visitors.

Alcester finished the match with a superb try from Mick Weaver, which Hack converted.
