INCREASED demand for a service to adapt homes for the elderly and disabled has prompted Redditch Council to inject a further £60,000 into the scheme, writes Becky Procter.
The equipment and adaptations project has been run by the council for several years and at the start of this year, £300,000 was allocated to the project.
Changes and alterations carried out under the scheme are made to both council houses and privately owned homes and include stair lifts and walk-in showers.
The scheme was set up to allow people to stay independent in their own homes and some adaptations have led to houses being completely transformed.
