SUSPENSION has ruled combative midfielder Scott Goodwin out of Hereford United's home FA Cup clash with Wrexham -- but caretaker boss Phil Robinson has insisted the player should not change his style.

Goodwin, who was sent off against Doncaster on Saturday, picked up his fifth booking against Woking the previous week which has cost him the chance of appearing in the Match of the Day tie on Sunday.

Defender Matt Clarke is also suspended for the visit of the Welsh side.

Robinson believes 22-year-old Goodwin was unfortunate to be booked against Woking which cost him his place.

"The challenge that gave him his fifth booking was never a booking, he was unlucky," said Robinson.

"But Scott is a combative midfielder and players like him are always going to get their fair share of bookings. If you took that aspect of his game away he wouldn't be the same player."

Robinson admitted though that Goodwin had been rash in his challenge against Doncaster.

"The player he tackled actually made a meal of it in terms of the actual contact made," he said.

"But the manner in which Scott went into the tackle at that stage of the game, it probably wasn't the wisest thing to do."
