WORCESTER Rugby Club's bid to switch their RFU Senior Cup fifth round tie with Rotherham to a Sunday looks to have been scuppered.

Clifton Lane chairman Mike Yarlett has insisted the game should be played on Saturday, November 24 rather than a day later.

Worcester were hoping to play on the Sunday as the Saturday date clashes with England's South Africa game at Twickenham. However, Yarlett has vetoed the switch because he is against Sunday matches.

With both clubs having to agree to the date of the match, Worcester have now referred the problem to the RFU, but chief executive Geoff Cooke was not expecting the governing body to make Rotherham play on Sunday.

"We will know by tomorrow," he said. "Rotherham get around 40 per cent of the takings from the match so you would think it would be in their interests to play the game on Sunday and avoid a clash with the international fixture.

"However, we do not feel that strongly about it. We would like to play on Sunday and think it makes commercial sense to do so but if we have to play on Saturday then so be it."

Meanwhile, Worcester Rugby full back Sateki Tuipulotu kicked four penalties against Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday.

But Tuipulotu's Tongan side eventually lost 43-20.
