KIDDERMINSTER Harriers today launched their plans to gun down Darlington in Saturday's FA Cup first round clash against Darlington -- and who better to mastermind a money-spinning run than manager Jan Molby!

During his days at Anfield the Great Dane helped all-conquering Liverpool to a trio of FA Cup triumphs. And it's that kind of priceless experience which Harriers' fans hope will rub off on the players when they face Darlington in what promises to be an intriguing encounter.

Molby is desperately keen for the side to do well in the competition. He knows all too well what a good cup run can do for any club, whatever their status.

Not only does it generate welcome income it also fires the imagination of the public. And for a club like Harriers, who struggle to attract break-even crowds in the Third Division, that's vitally important.

Chairman Lionel Newton is regularly going on record about his disappointment at the size of the crowds at Aggborough and the need for greater income.

Certainly, victory over The Quakers would go a long way towards putting a smile on the chairman's face -- but it's not going to be easy.

Harriers have not been in consistently good form this season, but there have been positive signs recently that they could well have turned the corner.

A 4-1 win over York and a 2-0 triumph against Bristol Rovers in their last two home games have boosted confidence, as well as Saturday's fine 3-1 success at Leyton Orient.

And it won't have escaped Darlington's notice that Harriers have only lost once at Aggborough in the league this season -- against Molby's former club Swansea City.

But it's the magic of the FA Cup that can spur Kidderminster to go one better than they did last season when they entertained Darlington in a league match. On that occasion the sides fought out a 0-0 draw after Molby's men had won 2-1 earlier in the campaign at Feethams.

The Aggborough outfit have already lost 2-0 at Darlington this season and this Saturday it could well be a similar scoreline -- only this time to Harriers!
