LIONEL Newton has revealed his reasons for not splashing out any more money for Kidderminster Harriers manager Jan Molby to spend on new players.

The Harriers chairman says it would be an 'irresponsible' thing to do while the club are losing money on a weekly basis.

He believes that Kidderminster need to consolidate their status in the Football League before working towards a sustained promotion push from the Third Division.

He said: "When we achieved promotion to the Football League I said consolidation was to be our priority and this has certainly been the case.

"We are now a smaller fish in a bigger pond. "I make no apologies for not spending more money on new players as we are still losing money on a weekly basis from income we are currently receiving, and it would be irresponsible to have done otherwise.

"We are a club who have recently gained Football League status and our immediate goal is that the foundations be laid to secure and maintain that status, with a view to laying the platform for mid to long term success.

"Our approach is deliberately cautious as all our objectives must be financially achievable.

"We are currently organising the new stand development and the club has undergone positive management and staff changes for the demands of full-time professional football, both n the playing and non-playing side.

"The club is continually updating its thinking and structure s we settle into these demands."
