AN excellent all round team performance saw Radar take all three points against high-flying Perrywood Reserves last Sunday.

MALVERN RADAR 1, PERRYWOOD RES 0

The visitors had only lost one game all season and with their team consisting of mainly young players, must have fancied their chances against their rather older opponents.

Radar had a chance in the very first minute when Russ Brewer swung over a fine cross to the back post and although Darren Loader reached the ball he was just off target from an awkward angle. Most of Perrywood's efforts were broken down by determined defending or by a disappointing final pass and it was no real surprise when Radar took the lead. Tony Bishop broke down the right wing and knocked in a great cross to Nial Henderson who somehow missed with his first effort but the ball fell nicely back to the midfielder who knocked the ball into the net for his eighth of the season.

With Perrywood kicking down the slope in the second half, Radar knew they would have some defending to do and with Clive Churchill and Phil Birch in mean moods, the visitors made little headway with keeper Chris Ball easily dealing with long range efforts from Steve Prickett and Kevin Matthews.

Radar had their chances with Dave Marshall foiled by Wood keeper Dave Lutz and the hardworking Andy Myhill having a goal disallowed for offside.

Radar continued to defend with some determination and deservedly clinched victory.

They have now won four of their six league fixtures and will be hoping for a similar showing this Sunday at home to Oak Apple. Team meet 9.45am at Victoria Park.
