MEMBERS of the Chase Ward Electors' Association, meeting 50 years ago, considered "the new structure in Church Street, masquerading as a bus shelter, to be totally inadequate and a waste of public money".
Could they have been talking about the same bus shelter which has been the subject of controversy 50 years on, and which is now encased in wood for safety reasons?
