THE picture of quarrymen published in Malvern Memories on Friday, October 26, drew the attention of Marged Verbist, of Malvern, who is almost sure the man seated to the right (as we look at the picture) of the foreman in the front row is her grandfather Fred Jones.
She said her grandfather specialised in dynamite and the man in the picture is holding something which could be a packet of explosives.
Mr Jones was later promoted from the quarry to become foreman of the sidings at Colwall station.
She believes the picture may be at the West of England Quarry but another reader, Nadia Dunning, is sure it was taken at North Malvern Quarry (by the clock tower).
