HEREFORD United players are under pressure to perform in tomorrow's Nationwide Conference clash with Doncaster Rovers or they face being axed for the live Match of the Day FA Cup tie against Wrexham next week.

Caretaker boss Phil Robinson spelt out the message ahead of the Yorkshire side's visit to Edgar Street (3pm) as the Bulls seek to bounce back from last week's disappointing defeat away at Woking.

"It is my job to make sure that the players concentrate on the next match coming up," said Robinson.

"Players know if they don't perform well enough against Doncaster that with everybody coming back to fitness there may be changes for the next match and whether that is the league or FA Cup is immaterial."

Rovers did the double over Hereford last year and after spending a lot of money this year had been tipped to be one of the main challengers for a promotion place.

"This year they have brought a number of attacking players notably Justin Jackson from Rushden & Diamonds to add to their strength and organisational abilities," he said.

Robinson will be hoping his own strike force can hit the net after bombarding Woking last week but failing to make a breakthrough.

"Woking had one shot on target all game and that flew into the bottom corner," he said.

"We took the game to them and had several goalscoring opportunities but their 'keeper had a very good game and it was very disappointing for myself and players to come away with nothing. It was a very frustrating afternoon."

Despite his side firing blanks against Woking Robinson has been encouraged by the number of chances his team have been creating.

Indeed when the Bulls have scored goals they have come from all quarters and not just the attackers.

"The pleasing thing is that goals are starting to come from all areas of the pitch," he said.

"If you look at the Scarbourgh game we had six different goalscorers on the scoresheet."

Birmingham City defender Tony Capaldi is set to start his second game in a two-month loan spell but Hereford have decided not to renew the three month contract of left-back Kristian James, the former Swansea City player.

Striker Scott Voice, who missed the Woking match, is Robinson's only injury doubt ahead of Rovers' visit.
