shopkeepers in Graham Road have got together to lobby the police and Malvern Hills District Council about cars parked illegally at the top of Broads Bank.

Vehicles are often left all day on the pavement or on single yellow lines, making it difficult for other drivers to turn into the narrow lane.

Sarah Gerami, owner of Pizza Fiesta, said: "We have contacted the council about the lack of traffic wardens. Our delivery lorries cannot get down to the back of our shop.

"There is also a car park, which is in constant use, but a lot of the time there is a very real problem even getting to it.

"It gets ridiculous when we have to keep phoning the police when someone is blocking the way, we haven't done it for a while, we don't like doing it really."

John Curtis, owner of Kensingtons Asset Management, said: "They should put double yellow lines all the way down there. It's incredibly dangerous and inconvenient. People still park there even though there's a yellow line, sometimes right up to the corner of Graham Road. You have almost got to go on the pavement to get round them.

"There are other places to park in Malvern but people are just lazy."

Sgt Charles Heritage, of Malvern Police, said: "Regrettably, the police only have a finite amount of resources which means priorities must be identified. Clearly, no one would expect the police to put parking matters ahead of catching burglars.

"Traffic wardens are on duty in the Malvern Hills district and do enforce parking restrictions, as many residents will know to their cost."
