RANGERS entered the semi-final of the Nursing Junior Cup, just, on Saturday, just, is all that it takes however and Rangers were overall marginally the better side.

Malvern Rangers won 4-3 on penalties

After 16 minutes play following a good move Stuart Harvey forced a corner from Sports keeper Watson. The corner was only partially cleared to the edge of the box where Cyril Dowling was fouled. Rob Perrins took the kick, which got through the wall but didn't carry sufficient venom to beat keeper Watson.

On 32 minutes Droitwich won a free kick on the edge of the box and Rangers' keeper Carl Preece made a full length save for a fruitless corner. However four minute later the visitors took a deserved lead, attacking down their left the ball was whipped into the box where Yemi Ingram got the slightest of headers to the ball to divert it past Preece and into the corner.

One minute before the interval a long ball out of defence saw Rob Perrins gain possession in the penalty area but his first time well-struck shot went wide of the post.

With a few home truths spoken at half time Rangers came out for the second half with a great deal more conviction. After nine minutes Richard Forde played the ball to Cyril Dowling whose fine cross to the near post was met by Stuart Harvey but his effort went wide.

It was not until five minutes before the end of the 90 however that Rangers managed to secure an equaliser. Awarded a free kick on the edge of the box Marc Lines won a header and Stuart Harvey was on hand to gleefully force the ball over the line.

Both sides had chances during extra time to have secured victory with Rangers best chance falling to Harvey 11 minutes into the second period when Rob Perrins crossed to the far post where Harvey's first time shot went over the crossbar.

In the penalty shoot-out that followed Droitwich scored first with Mark White replying for Rangers. The next Droitwich penalty went wide of the post although Carl Preece had the post well covered. Rob Perrins was next up but his kick was saved by keeper Watson.

Droitwich then scored with Richard Forde replying for Rangers. Carl Preece then made an excellent save from the next Droitwich penalty whilst Simon Rea put Rangers in front. Droitwich scored their next kick and Marc Lines kept his composure to keep Rangers in front and through to the semi-final,
