MOUNTAIN rescue equipment had to be used after two teenage girls fell 25ft down a railway embankment in Redditch on Saturday.

Crews from two fire engines and medics from three ambulances spent two hours rescuing the girls from the bottom of the embankment next to the old railway tunnel off Parsons Road.

A fire service spokesman said they were called after a third girl, who managed to scramble up the muddy and slippery embankment, raised the alarm at about 3.30pm.

The spokesman said the three girls had walked down the embankment to get to the other side but had slipped and fallen.
