AN Evesham couple will put their best feet forward in China next month, thanks to The Journal/Round Table Fix It campaign.

Caroline Godber, aged 50, and her husband, Geoff, 51, of Blayneys Lane, will be walking 75 miles of The Great Wall of China to raise money for The National Star Centre in Cheltenham, which helps physically handicapped people aged 16 to 25.

Caroline and Geoff have a son, William, who suffers from West's Syndrome, a form of cerebral palsy, and they saw the advert for the sponsored walk in a supermarket and decided to take part.

Caroline said: "We thought that this year, we'd get up and do something as it was a suitable challenge."

Since then, they have been in training with regular walks on the Malverns and Bredon Hill and have had to raise £2,425 each to participate.

This amount has now been realised thanks to The Journal/Round Table fix it campaign which donated £320. The couple will fly to China for nine days next month, eight of which will be spent walking along the wall.

Caroline said: "We can now look forward to doing the walk, thanks to the Round Table who topped us up, and everyone else who has been very generous with their donations."

The Fix-It Initiative was launched back in May to coincide with the club's 50th anniversary.

The Round Table still would still like to hear from people who need funding for local projects or personal assistance.

Any organisation or individual who would like to benefit from Fix-it 2001, should get in touch with Pat Smith on 01386 765678 or email pss@nqmids.co.uk.
