BROMSGROVE Rovers boss Steve Daniels has stoked the fierce rivalry between old club Stourbridge and his present side by claiming: we've got the best players in the league.

The bold statement comes just days after Stour firmly established themselves as the leaders of the Midland Football Alliance, whilst Daniels captured the signature of prize midfielder Shaun Derry from Chasetown.

The Glassboys currently sit seven points ahead of Daniels' men in the hunt for just one promotion place on offer.

But Daniels insists Stour's men have not got the same quality.

"We've got the best players in this league -- that's fact," Daniels said.

"If you were to pick a dream team of players in this division then I'd say that most of my players would be in it," he boasted.

"Stourbridge have got two or three quality players but the rest just work hard.

"I'm not saying we've got the best team, because having the best players doesn't always make a good team.

"What we're short of is turning these players into a good team who can win the league, and that's down to me."

The straight talking Black Country man added his men have got to improve their self-control if they are to move higher than fifth place in the table.

"Our discipline is woeful," he confessed. "We're so eager to please the crowd that our discipline goes out of the window."

Daniels has signed striker Mervyn Blake and is due to talk to Bridgnorth's Dave Read and Gareth Day from Willenhall.
