A REMARKABLE woman, believed to be Droitwich Spa's oldest resident, has died aged 101.
Hilda Whittaker, who lived at Dorset House, in Blackfriars Avenue, was born on March 8, 1900.
The former Blackfriars Court resident moved to Dorset House 12 years ago.
She had been a regular worshipper at Droitwich Spa Methodist Church, off Worcester Road. Miss Whittaker died in her sleep on Thursday October 18.
The spinster was born in the Black Country and has no known relatives.
Dorset House assistant manager Heather Ward said: "Hilda was the gentlest, kindest and sweetest person I have ever met.
"I think she lived so long because she never worried about anything."
Her funeral took place at Worcester Crematorium yesterday followed by a service at the Methodist Church.
