RESIDENTS are invited to have their say on the multi-million pound revamp planned at Droit-wich Spa's historic Lido.

Wychavon District Council is holding a public meeting to find out what people think.

The authority wants to replace the Lido Park brine pool with a modern spa centre.

Wychavon has joined forces with Anglo-German company Calypso and will inject £500,000 into the scheme and provide a 99-year lease.

At the open meeting on Tuesday November 6, Calypso will give its first public presentation.

The hydro-health centre is expected to feature five indoor and outdoor pools with varying brine content, saunas, spas, health and beauty treatments, a sunbathing terrace and a restaurant.

The current Lido complex, including an art deco building, will probably be demolished.

The meeting at Droitwich Spa Community Centre, in Heritage Way, starts at 7pm. Residents can quiz Calypso representatives and comment on the blueprints.

Wychavon's community partnership committee chairman, Cllr Martin Jennings (Con, Evesham South), said: "We promised to involve the broadest cross-section of the public in the Lido redevelopment plans.

"The council is particularly interested in hearing the views of younger residents. We usually find they are under represented at these sort of meetings."

Droitwich: Save our Lido Today (SALT) group is issuing leaflets to drum up support in preparation for the meeting.

Campaigner David Parkinson said: "The meeting has been called at very short notice and I think Wychavon is just paying lip service to the consultation exercise."
