IAN Clarkson admitted his man-of-the-match award was probably an indication of their current predicament at Carlisle.

Harriers had been struggling to score goals so not surprisingly it was a defensive player who showed up on Saturday.

But Clarkson insisted the problems they are having should be shared by the whole team and not just attacking players.

The experienced former Birmingham City, Stoke City and Northampton Town right-back should certainly be in a position to know.

Clarkson said after the Carlisle game: "Six goals in 14 games is the worst record in the whole country and it does start to play on your mind.

"We cannot go on drawing games 0-0. But here we have given a soft goal away from a set-piece.

"If you don't score, you are never going to beat anybody. We had the better of the play at times against Carlisle but we were pretty punchless. That's a team thing."

Clarkson has established himself back in the first 11 after originally starting the season as second choice to Parfait Medou-Otye.

He admitted: "It's nice to be playing but I'd rather be playing in a winning team.

"If I was man of the match, that's indicative of the problems we're having. In all fairness, we need offensive players as man of the match."
