INJURED keeper Scott Cooksey was set to receive a boost ahead of today's Nationwide Conference game with Boston United when he will be presented with a semi-professional cap for representing England.

Director of Football Graham Turner said the cap would be a welcome bit of good news for the keeper who has not played yet this season.

"It's become a bit of an anomaly since around 10 of our squad are full time professionals but representing your country at any level is an achievement," said Turner.

"He hasn't played since Boston in the final game of last season so this is some good news for him."

Turner was hopeful Cooksey could be back in action within a month but admitted it had been a tough spell for Cooksey on the sidelines. "I think he gets frustrated because he's a professional and he wants to play but he's working hard and has spent three separate weeks at Lilleshall as part of his rehabilitation."

Out-of-favour striker Rob Elmes, who scored 18 goals last season, and has hit the net five times this campaign looks unlikely to sign for Conference rivals, Stevenage Borough, according to Turner, although he did not completely rule it out.

Elmes, a teacher at Droitwich High School, has not started in any of the three starting line ups under Robinson since the player/coach took over first team affairs.

"We agreed a fee with Stevenage and asked Rob if he would be interested considering the fact he is not featuring in Phil Robinson's side and Scott Voice has the shirt," said Turner.

"We put it to him if he wanted to talk to them and the ball is in his court. The deal is not totally dead but I think Rob feels the distance from where he works and lives is too great for him to contemplate."
