POOR second rounds at the Cannes Open have hit David Park and Jeremy Robinson's chances of getting European Tour golf cards for next season.

Hereford's Park, who was in second place after a first round of 64, slipped back to joint 36th after a second round of 75 left him five under par.

Everything looked promising until the last seven holes, where the Burghill Valley Golf Club member shot three bogeys and a double-bogey seven on the 14th.

Thirteen missed cuts in 25 events this season have left Park 142nd on the money list and in need of some good performances in the final four events to get into the top 115 and keep his playing privileges, having won only his second ever Tour event, the Compaq European Grand Prix at Slaley Hall in 1999.

Evesham's Robinson, meanwhile, dropped back from fifth to equal 62nd, just making the cut following a 76 which left him two under par.

He double-bogeyed the par three second hole and had five other bogeys, as well as three birdies.

The Vale Golf and Country Club member needs to win around £20,000 from his last three tournaments to regain the full Tour card he lost last year.

Norway's Henrik Bjornstad moved into contention for his first European Tour title -- aided by a 12-year-old caddie.

Bjornstad employed a local caddie in the first round, but when he failed to show on time yesterday he had to rely on Jack Sorrell, the son of one of the club professionals at Cannes Mougins.

With Jack pulling along a trolley, it did Bjornstad no harm as he added a 68 to his opening 65 for an 11 under par halfway total.

"Jack was very good," said Bjornstad. "We spoke about golf on the way round because he is just starting the game and I'm really pleased to be back in contention."

Kent's Warren Bennett led by one shot after the second round.
