KINGSLEY Jones believes Worcester's Coventry defeat could yet be an extremely well disguised blessing as they look to recover their season.

The Sixways skipper is confident the squad will come back from their 31-22 National One reversal to win promotion to the Zurich Premiership.

And despite the doom and gloom surrounding the club after the loss, Jones is keen to stress - there's still everything to play for.

"It's nonsense to say the season is over," he said. "If there is ever a good time to lose, it is probably towards the start of the season where we have chance to come back from the defeat and catch Rotherham. We have to try and be positive - the loss was a very, very hard lesson for the boys but they are intelligent enough to learn from their mistakes."

Worcester went into today's National Cup third round clash at Lydney with the wounds of defeat still fresh and for Jones, he would have preferred to get straight back on the National One trail.

"I want to get back to the league and prove a few points," he added. "That is me though. I can't wait for the games at Wakefield and Otley to get some more points on the board. Other players can look at it and maybe use it as a confidence-boosting exercise at Lydney but, for me, it will be a really tough game.

"I think though, there will be a backlash from our lads because we were so disappointed at losing to Coventry. It's no good thinking they are below us because we will come unstuck if we are not 100 per cent focused.

"We cannot afford to drop anymore points but I think that challenge is one that everyone is relishing."
