ANNE Foster may have celebrated her 101st birthday, but she still acts like a rebellious teenager according to her daughter.

Mrs Foster was born in Birmingham and moved to Worcester when she was two years old.

"We lived in Blackpole first, and back then it was just a tiny hamlet," she said.

"After that we moved to a house off Droitwich Road when I was 14."

Growing up in Worcester, Mrs Foster fondly recalls the dances she used to go to as a teenager.

"I used to go to dances in Foregate Street, which were run by a very strict woman and her son," she said.

"If the men swept the girls off their feet she'd stop the music and clap her hands and tell them off.

"I used to run all the way home to Droitwich Road to get back before nine o'clock, and I would have to stand outside and get my breath back."

She married George in 1921, and moved to Kempsey where they had their fist son, Geoffrey, in 1927.

Their second son, Kenneth, was born four years later, followed by their daughter Esme in 1939.

In 1936, the family moved into the recently-built home in Greathouse Road, St John's, where Mrs Foster has lived ever since.

Mrs Foster celebrated her birthday yesterday with a surprise night out with friends and family, including her two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A party was also thrown for her by the Live at Home Scheme, a voluntary organisation which helps people live at home independently, on Thursday, October 11.

"You wouldn't believe she's 101, she looks at least 15 years younger," said her daughter Esme.

"And she still acts like a rebellious teenager."
