KIND-hearted Worcester children are filling up Christmas boxes to help bring some cheer to less fortunate youngsters living abroad.

Presents, including small toys, games, crayons and sweets are being contributed by children from Nunnery Wood Primary School and packed in boxes that have been wrapped in colourful Christmas paper.

The toys will be sent to areas such as Eastern Europe as part of a charity called Operation Christmas Child.

"The boxes are taken to areas where children would not normally get Christmas presents," said Lyn Crowther, a teacher at Nunnery Wood Primary.

"The toys aren't just for Christian children and will be given to children regardless of religion or nationality.

"They may even go to Afghanistan this year, but we don't know yet."

Busy pupils are continuing to fill up boxes, which will be sent to their destinations at the beginning of November.
