STEVE Warburton contests the final two rounds of the Club Formula Palmer Audi single-seater motor racing series at Snetterton on Sunday (October 14) already with one hand on the driver's 'crown'.
Warburton, from Leigh Sinton, lies first in the 12 race, one make category instigated by former Grand Prix driver Jonathan Palmer. He has a 41 point lead over Stephen Young, from Newcastle, and with only 48 points up for grabs on Sunday, the Worcestershire ace looks set for honours.
All of the 20 cars competing for honours in the two, 15 lap races around the 1.952 mile Norfolk trace, are all powered by 1.8 litre turbo charged Audi engine.
Each car is prepared to exactly the same specification and uses the same type of tyre putting the onus on driver skill. Former FPA champion, Justin Wilson has recently tested a Jordan Formula One car.
