BEN Geerlings, aged 16, who lives at Upper Colwall and goes to Malvern College, has been selected for the Great Britain Under 17 Sabre Fencing squad and will compete for his country for the first time at Godollo in Hungary this weekend.
Coach Peter Rome said: "This is part of the British International Fencing Circuit, which we use for World Championship training. It gets them used to different styles of fencing and Ben will be one of 30 young men and women in the British Squad."
"He is, of course, the second international fencer that Malvern College has produced recently. The first, Naomi Setchell who left the college last year, came 11th in the Women's World Sabre Championships while still at Malvern."
