I WATCHED, with some amusement, Tony Blair's appeal to the public during his September 26 appearance to "go out and spend".

Tony and his confederates should get out into the real world. Old Joe public, whether in business or whatever, has a certain amount of money to spend. After paying the service industry charges and food costs, there is little left over for spending.

In my opinion, the best way to increase money in the pocket of "Joe" is to reduce fuel, insurance, road, and personal taxes and so on. I believe that anyone on a six-figure salary is just not aware of the conditions endured by those in the lower income bracket.

So, Tony, stop giving so much money away to those who have not earned it and divert it instead or subsidise those who are in need.
