A £10,000 cash bonanza is up for grabs if Worcester City can overcome Cornish side St Blazey in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup tomorrow (3pm).

But City boss John Barton, who travels with his side to the South-West today, is concentrating on football matters rather than bank balances ahead of the clash at St Blaise Park.

City banked £7,500 for their 5-0 win at Barnstaple in the last round, and if they can get through tomorrow and then win in the fourth qualifying round, another £20,000 is up for grabs.

"From a financial point of view the rewards on offer are well documented but it is about winning football matches," he said.

"We're going there to win a football match, and if we do that, everything else will fall into place."

The Saints are currently storming away with the Carlsberg South-Western League with 10 wins out of 10, and beat Dr Martens Western Division side Chippenham in the last round.

Barton knows his players must be at their best against the reigning South-Western League champions to make it through to the next round and set up a possible clash with a Nationwide Conference side. The players are making an overnight stop in Plymouth.

"St Blazey are the in-form side where they operate with an exemplary playing record," he said.

"We look at that and respect it but we're certainly not going to be in awe of them. I'm sure there are other teams they would have rather drawn than Worcester.

"The players are all looking forward to the tie and getting past the magical winning post to the fourth qualifying round.

"However we have to make sure we approach it right because there are a lot of things to look forward to depending on the result."

Striker Phil Stant, who has been suffering with a tight hamstring, is fit but Jamie Hyde (ankle) could be doubtful, which could see transfer-listed Ian Reed make the bench.

"Jamie's ankle has responded to treatment but is still quite bruised and might not stand up to another impact," said Barton, who is taking 18 players down to Cornwall including transfer-listed winger Ian Reed.

Experienced defender Martin Weir, who has missed the last three matches due to a shin infection, trained on Wednesday and could return.

Should the match end all square the replay will take place at St George's Lane on Tuesday, October 16 (7.45).
