A PRELIMINARY route for a Riverside path between Callow End and Powick has been thrashed out at a meeting of interested parties

Those taking part included Paul Hughes from Madresfield Estate, which owns the land, the tenant farmer, representatives of Powick Parish Ramblers, members of the Ramblers' Association and the Open Spaces Society.

The meeting was called by Powick councillor Tom Wells, who said he was determined that historic differences between ramblers and landowners should be laid to rest.

"I'm reasonably hopeful that it will be possible to design a proposal that has broad support of all the interested parties," he said.

A route from Pixham Ferry through Northwoods to Beauchamp Court has been tentatively agreed.

If accepted, the county council rights of way department will begin processing a new public footpath order and create a definitive map, during which time objections will be heard.
